Me
Having been born in San Jose, California, I'm in a position to relate to students growing up in the Bay Area. My being bilingual in Hindi, and my exposure to the Hindustani music informs my teaching of dance and singing. Most importantly, I consider myself to be part of a larger kathak community.
My Guruji, Pandit Chitresh Das
I studied and trained with my Guruji, the legendary Pt. Chitresh Das, from 1995 until his death in 2015. I traveled throughout India with him and senior disciples on three lengthy tours of India, which included performances, classes, and visits with classical performing artists. In addition to studying/training directly with Pt. Das, I had just as much, if not more, study/training at his Chhandam School of Kathak. I have a deep sense of gratitude for what my Guruji taught me, the experiences I had while studying/training with him, and what I learned from others who came before me.
